Two parts, working together
Graice splits the part the senior touches from the part that does the thinking. That keeps the front-facing device cheap and silent, while a more capable hub carries the language model. There are no feature tiers to buy into — just hardware choices.
The voice unit
What the senior actually uses: a button, a microphone, a speaker, and the Warden orchestration core. Low-power and inexpensive — one per person, or per room.
The processing hub
A separate, more capable machine that runs the local language model (via Ollama). This is what makes full offline operation possible — no cloud, no internet dependency. A Pi can't carry the model on its own; the hub does. One hub serves many voice units.
A legacy has to outlive the cloud.
Life-story preservation that's meant to last beyond a person's lifetime — the record a family returns to after they're gone — can't run on an online device. When an account closes or a subscription lapses, a cloud-linked device takes the record with it. So the lasting legacy lives on a fully offline, dedicated hub (an NVIDIA Spark or similar AI-capable box), independent of any external service. The voice unit captures the stories day to day; the hub is what keeps them.
